Subomi Balogun’s death is one too many for banking industry – Kessington Adebutu

Odole Oodua, chairman of Premier Lotto Limited and Balogun of Remoland Sir Kessington Adebutu has expressed sadness over the death of businessman Subomi Balogun.

Balogun, founder of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB), died in London, United Kingdom on Friday morning at the age of 89.

In a statement on Friday, Adebutu described Balogun as a quintessential trailblazer, adding that his death was one too many for the banking industry and legal profession among others.

His statement read, “Sir Dr Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu CFR – Odole-Oodua of The Source commiserates with HRM, Oba Dr Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbagba11- The Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu-Land, the Matriarch and the entire members of Olasubomi Balogun family, on the transition of Otunba Tunwase of Ijebu-Land and Patriarch of Olasubomi Balogun family-Otunba Michael Olasubomi Balogun CON, which inevitable event occurred on Friday 19th May 2023.

“There is no question about it, it is one death too many for the Banking Industry, Legal Profession, Tradition, Christianity and indeed Nigeria.

“We have lost a quintessential Trailblazer, an epitome of Industry of Tradition, Panache, and of Christian Values.”

Adebutu who lost two wives in January added, “He will ever be remembered for his Midas touch in the manner he raised the bar of everything he laid his hands on. May the Good Lord accept his noble soul into His bossom.”
