Supporters of the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore on Friday staged a protest at the Abuja Transcorp Hilton Hotel over the party’s exclusion from the vice presidential debate.

Spokesperson of the Take it Back Movement, under whose banner the protest was carried Jude Eya, told journalists that all they wanted was for Mr Sowore to be included in the debate.

He said that the placards they held reflected their opinion on the matter.

According to him, the protest would be sustained because the reason for exclusion of the party’s candidate was not made public.

The vice presidential debate was put together by the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON).

Those that participated were Ganiyu Galadima of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Khadijah Abudullahi-Iya of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), Prof Yemi Osinbajo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peter Obi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Umma Getso of the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
