Sowore celebrates Jaruma’s release on bail

Publisher Omoyele Sowore on Friday celebrated the release of self-acclaimed sex therapist Hauwa Mohammed aka Jaruma on bail by an Upper Area Court in the Zuba area of Abuja.

Jaruma was arraigned on Monday for alleged defamation of character, false news publication and intimidation of actress Regina Daniels’ husband Ned Nwoko on social media.

Nwoko had accused Jaruma of publishing falsehoods on her Instagram page against him and his wife.

Celebrating her release, Mr Sowore, whose publication Sahara Reporters has severally written articles critical of Nwoko, said in a post to social media that there was no reason for Jaruma’s arrest and detention.

“#FreeJaruma: Glad that Jaruma has been granted bail. There was no reason for her arrest and detention by so-called Billionairë Ned Nwoko,” he wrote.

The former presidential candidate added that he blamed the police for “turning itself into a mercenary that enforces the will of criminal and repressive VIPs.”

He called for charges to be dropped against Jaruma and advised the aphrodisiac seller to charge Nwoko and the police for her “unjust and unlawful persecution.”

On Thursday, Sowore called for her release in a social media post, alleging that Nwoko had done much damage to lots of innocent citizens in his community with the aid of the police.

“Jaruma is his latest victim. This culture cannot stand! Defamation is a civil matter!” he said.
