South African singer, Wodumo, was assaulted on Instagram live by her long-term boyfriend, DJ Mampintsha.

The 24-year-old singer was shown getting repeatedly beaten by South African Disc Jockey, DJ Mampintsha.

The now deleted video has sparked a fury of response by social media users, sending messages of support to Wodumo and knocking her boyfriend.

Reacting to the attack, Wodumo posted a message on Instagram on Monday promising to release a full statement soon.

“Greetings. We would like to thank everyone for the messages  support about the early morning video. unfortunately Babes can’t be able to have any interviews for now as she is still emotional about the situation. She will issue the statement on her social media platform later today,” she wrote.

South African minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, reacted to the controversial video via Twitter on Sunday, urging Wodumo to press charges against DJ Mampintsha.

This clip is coming nine months after South African presenter, Masechaba Ndlovu, broke the news of the abuse during a radio interview with Wodumo.

She was featured on ‘Redemption,’ a song off the soundtrack for top 2018 movie, Black Panther.
