Something dey happen: 2face threatens legal action over copyright infringement

Award-winning musician, 2Face may be heading for the court soon as his record label, 960 Music PR Team, on Wednesday threatened legal action against a musician over alleged abuse of intellectual right.

It stated that the track, released a few days ago, was by a rising singer only known as Ewa.

The statement said: “It has been brought to our attention that there is a song ‘Crazy Love’ being circulated on the Internet which was composed and sang by one Ewa and purportedly featuring 2Face.

“The song is an illegal manipulation and super-imposition on 2Face’s unreleased song titled ‘Could This Be Love’.

“This odious and fraudulent act is not only condemnable but also an assault on the integrity of the entertainment industry which thrives on creativity and hard work.”

It emphasised that the act was an infringement on 2Face’s right under the Copyright Act Cap C28, LFN 2004

It hinted that the company would employ the full force of law to enforce his reproduction, publishing, performance and communication rights which had been breached.

“We wish to use this medium to categorically state that 2Face did not feature in any song composed and sang by any Ewa,” it said.
