Slain Akwa Ibom job seeker Iniubong Umoren buried

The remains of Iniubong Umoren who was allegedly raped and killed by a fake job recruiter in Akwa Ibom have been buried.

Ms Umoren, 26, a graduate of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), was buried on Friday at her hometown, Nung Ita, Ikot Essien in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.

The prime suspect Uduak Akpan is being held by the police.

Umoren’s burial was conducted by a local congregation of Faith Tabernacle Church.

“It is written that a man will die but woe unto him that caused the death,” was the title of the pastor’s message at the funeral.

Friends shared pictures and videos of the funeral on social media.

Students from UNIUYO attended the funeral including Akwa Ibom House of Assembly member representing Oruk Anam State Constituency, Udo Kieran, and the chairman of the local government council, Kingsley Akpan

The deceased’s sister fainted during the ceremony, but was resuscitated.

UNIUYO students sang solidarity songs, demanding justice for Umoren.
