Actor Alexx Ekubo has died at the age of 40.
News of his death began circulating online on Tuesday.
According to reports, the actor died after battling kidney cancer.
The reports comes months after fans repeatedly expressed concern over Alexx’s absence from social media. The actor, known for his active online presence, has not posted on his verified Instagram page for more than a year, leading to growing speculation and questions from followers about his wellbeing.
Several fans had taken to social media in recent months asking about his whereabouts and why he suddenly disappeared from public view.
Alexx rose to fame after emerging first runner up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria competition. He later became one of Nollywood’s familiar faces through roles in films such as Weekend Getaway, Lagos Cougars, The Bling Lagosians, A Sunday Affair and Omo Ghetto: The Saga.
In 2021, the actor made headlines after getting engaged to US based model Fancy Acholonu. The couple announced their engagement in May that year and planned to hold their traditional and white weddings in November.
However, in August 2021, Fancy publicly announced that she had ended the relationship and called off the wedding.
