The police have arrested seven newspaper vendors and distribution agents in Imo State.

Operatives of the IGP’s intelligence response team arrested the vendors on Monday at their base on Douglas Road, Owerri.

Other vendors and distribution agents who escaped arrest told the news media that the police accused them of circulating newspaper publications that had stories on the Indigenous People of Biafra and that were “anti-state.”

Some of those arrested are Nnamso Okoro, Nelson Enyiama, Blessing Isinwa, and Onyebuchi Iwundu.

However, Imo police commissioner Abutu Yaro said the operatives who carreid out his arrest were not from his Command.

New Telegraph newspaper’s Imo State circulation manager Chuks Ugwuibe is still being held in an undisclosed location following his arrest in Orlu on Tuesday last week while taking his weekly returns from vendors.
