Disgraced Seun Egbegbe remanded in Kirikiri over phone theft

Yoruba movie marketer, Seun Egbegbe, was on Thursday remanded in prison for allegedly stealing nine iPhones at the Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos on Tuesday.

After spending two nights in police custody, the former lover of Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimakhu, was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court by the Lagos State Police Command.

The embattled Egbegbe pleaded not guilty to the charges slammed on him and was subsequently granted a bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.

Magistrate Aje Afunwa, however, directed that Egbegbe be kept at the Kirikiri Prisons until his bail conditions were met.

The case was adjourned to February 8, 2017.

Egbegbe had claimed in statement circulated by his supporters on Wednesday that he was at home relaxing, describing reports that he was arrested for stealing as “pretty laughable and better left in the court of public opinion”.
