A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by Senator Grace Bent against Precious Chikwendu, former lover of ex-aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu struck out the suit on Tuesday for want of diligent prosecution.

Bent, through the police, instituted the case against Ms Chikwendu in 2021. The ex-beauty queen was arraigned on March 10, 2022, on allegations bordering on defamation of character and cyberstalking.

This happened when Chikwendu was having a legal battle with Fani-Kayode for the custody of her children.

On March 29 when the case was to be continued in court, the prosecuting lawyer N.D. Elodimuo was absent and no reason was given for the non-appearance, forcing the judge to fix the matter for May 9.

On Tuesday, May 9, Elodimuo could not present his witness. He asked the court for a short adjournment but was countered by the defence.

Justice Egwuatu told Elodimuo that he expected him to apologise for the absence in the last adjourned date “but you just stepped into court as if nothing happened.”

The case was then struck out.

Chikwendu was in court with Fani-Kayode.
