Fuji singer Sefiu Alao has defended his colleague, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate, over his controversial remark about Islamic clerics at his mother’s 7-day Fidau prayer on January 24.

K1’s statement, “Ga Nusi,” directed at clerics who attended the event without invitation sparked widespread backlash, particularly after he refused to apologise.

His refusal further fueled criticism, coming on the heels of another controversy surrounding a phone conversation with President Bola Tinubu after the death of his mother.

In the viral clip, K1’s tone while receiving the president’s condolence message was perceived by many as arrogant.

Speaking on Yoruba TV show Awodi Oke, Sefiu defended K1, saying people were too quick to judge.

He noted that the musician had been accused of pride following his interaction with Tinubu, only to later face criticism for allegedly disrespecting clerics.

“You said I’m supporting Kwam 1. When his mother died, first they said he insulted the president, then they said he insulted alfas,” Sefiu said.

“People should understand that what he said wasn’t scripted; he responded based on how he felt at that moment.”

According to Sefiu, K1 questioned why the clerics were present when he hadn’t invited them and saw no reason to apologise.

“Some say his response shows he is proud, but others believe a certain level of pride is necessary to survive in life,” he added.

Meanwhile, another controversy erupted following Obesere’s grand 60th birthday celebration on Tuesday.

The star-studded event was attended by top Fuji musicians, Nollywood actors and socialites, but Pasuma’s absence did not go unnoticed.

A fan took to social media to accuse Pasuma of disrespecting Obesere by skipping the event despite allegedly owing his rise to him.

However, Pasuma’s supporters fired back, arguing that Obesere had also failed to attend Pasuma’s recent 40 Years on Stage anniversary.
