Sanwo-Olu attends commemoration service to honour Queen Elizabeth

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday evening attended a service of commemoration in Lagos to honour the late Queen Elizabeth who died on September 8.

The service was held at the British Residence in the Ikoyi area of Lagos.

Mr Sanwo-Olu, who was as of Tuesday in Geneva, Switzerland, also signed the condolence register at the service.

He said in a Twitter thread, “This evening, I attended the Service of Commemoration in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at The British Residence, Ikoyi, where I signed the condolence register.

“Queen Elizabeth II lived a remarkable life of service, devotion and duty to the people of the United Kingdom and the entire Commonwealth of Nations.

*On behalf of the people of Lagos, we pray for the Royal Family and it is our desire that the reign of King Charles III will forge a stronger relationship and partnership between the UK and Nigeria and the world.”

Queen Elizabeth’s body left Buckingham Palace for the last time on Wednesday and was escorted by a grand royal procession.

Her coffin was carried past London’s landmarks to the historic Westminster Hall where she will lie in state until her funeral next week.
