Runtown decries lack of media reportage on Borno suicide attacks

Runtown

Pop musician, Runtown, has decried the lack of Nigerian media reporting on the triple-bomb attack in Borno that left at least 30 people dead.

Qed.ng had reported that the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) estimated that 30 persons have been killed and 42 injured in triple suicide attacks in Mandarari community of Konduga Local Government Area of the state.

In his tweet on Tuesday, Runtown said: “There was a triple suicide bomb attack in Maiduguri just two days ago that took the lives of up to 30 people?

“Reading about it and realized that it was covered by mostly western publications. Are these reports true? Why are Nigerian publications not reporting it? I am confused.”

SEMA Director of Search, Rescue and Operations, Usman Kachala, told journalists on Monday that the incident occurred around 8 pm on Sunday.

Mr Kachala said that the three suicide bombers, comprising two females and a male, detonated Improvised Explossive Devices (IEDs) at a local tea joint and film center in the community.
