Actress Ronke Ojo, popular known as Ronke Oshodi Oke, was reduced to tears on Thursday over the comments she made in an interview with Broadway TV.
In the interview uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday, the 43-year-old spoke about the joys and challenges of being an actress.
Regarding marriage, she said things can’t work if the responsibilities of a home lie heavily with one person.
A man who cannot take care of family financially should not expect his wife to be submissive, let alone cook for him if she is the breadwinner, she said.
“I pay NEPA bill, cook with my own money when you don’t have money and then you return and expect me to cook for you, it’s not going to work because we have to work hand in hand.
“If you’re a man and you are doing absolutely everything, that is when you can have total control of your wife. But as long as a woman shares part of the responsibility,” she pointed out.
Fans’ reactions to the interview were swift and mostly unkind, with many describing her as irresponsible.
That got to her and she was forced to react via four videos she shared on her Instagram page.
She said she was only joking with the interviewer and didn’t understand why the person wants to destroy her and her marriage.
The 43-year-old also accused the producers of the interview of removing many of the nice things she said.
