Roma splash €5million on Nigerian teenagers

Italian side, AS Roma, have signed Nigerian youngsters, Sadiq Umar and Nura Abdullahi, for a combined €5million.

The Abuja Football College products have both penned four-year contracts with the Italian club till the summer of 2020.

Umar (19) is a striker and Abdullahi  (18) is a right-back. Both players were on loan at Roma last season from Serie B side Spezia, who have now made their moves permanent for €2.5-million each.

The Nigerians were part of Alberto De Rossi’s Roma side that won the 2015/16 Italian Primavera side.

Abdullahi did not have the best of seasons due to injury but is highly-rated among the Roma set-up while Umar has already made his Serie A debut.

The lanky forward played six times last term in Serie A, scoring two goals and is tipped for great things by the Roma management.

Roma have also completed the permanent signing of Italy forward Stephan El Shaarawy from AC Milan for €13-million.
