Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, also known as RMD, has expressed excitement after the Federal Government appeared to have listened to his suggestion for seized food items to be distributed for public consumption.

The 58-year-old had made the suggestion last Thursday, calling on the government to distribute seized food items to cushion the effect of the lockdown on Nigerians.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, RMD thanked the Nigeria Customs Service and the Federal Government for the initiative, adding that he hopes the food items get to those who are in need of them.

“About 5 days ago I made a post encouraging the President Buhari led Administration to release seized food items for public consumption in order to cushion the effect of the lockdown. By some strange alchemy the suggestion has come to pass. Thank you @official_customsng @theasovilla,” the Chief Daddy actor said.

“‘…My only hope is that the right persons are mandated to administer the distribution and that there are tangible measures to ensure that every last bit trickles down to those people who need it the most.'”

Several state governments have imposed curfews as part of efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory have since March 30 been on a lockdown following directives from President Muhammadu Buhari.
