Rio 2016: D’Tigers outclass Argentina in exhibition game

Nigeria national basketball team, D’Tigers, defeated Argentina, 96-92, in an exhibition game played in the United States of America (USA), on Monday.

The African champions, who lost to their South American counterparts in another friendly tournament, the Stankovic Cup early in July got their revenge with a better performance at Thomas and Mack Center, Las Vegas.

Ike Diogu and Michael Umeh were both stand-out players for Nigeria – notching 18 and nine points respectively.

Both teams will clash for the second time in three days before they square-off in the Rio Olympics proper.

Coach William Voigts tutored side will finalise their preparations by facing the American Dream Team on August 1 in Houston before clashing with the Argentines for the fourth time in two months at the Olympics proper six days later.

Apart from Sergio Hernandez team, they also face Croatia, Spain, Lithuania and hosts, Brazil at the showpiece.
