Messi’s Argentina loss to Brazil sparks new GOAT debate

Twitter users have begun debating the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) after Argentina fell to Brazil on Wednesday in the semi-finals of the 2019 Copa America.

Captain Lionel Messi could not help the team as Argentina crashed thanks to two goals on either half of the game.

Gabriel Jesus scored the opening goal and set up Roberto Firmino for the clincher as Brazil won 2-0 in Belo Horizonte to reach the final for the first time since 2007.

Argentina’s loss heaped more international misery on Messi after the team lost on penalties to Chile in the previous two finals.

Twitter users have revived the age-long debate over who remains the GOAT between Messi and arch-rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, and others.
