Remi Tinubu, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan visit Akwa Ibom to celebrate Akpabio at 61

First lady Remi Tinubu on Saturday joined several dignitaries in celebrating Senate President Godswill Akpabio on his 61st birthday at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Mrs Tinubu acknowledged Akpabio’s contributions to good governance across levels in Nigeria.

She said the event was not only for celebration and merriment, but to reflect on the immense contributions Akpabio has made across offices as former governor of Akwa Ibom, senator, minister and now Senate President.

The first lady noted that the Senate President has not only shown exemplary leadership which engenders principles of democracy and accountability, but also promotes the interest of many Nigerians especially the vulnerable in the society.

“At this auspicious occasion of Senator Godswill Akpabio’s 61st birthday, I send warm greetings and heartfelt wishes. This occasion is not only for celebration but to reflect on the immense contribution he has made to Akwa Ibom and Nigeria as a whole.

“Under his leadership, Akwa Ibom witnessed remarkable infrastructural development, improved healthcare services and educational growth, poverty alleviation and human capital development as he transformed the lives of many vulnerable persons.

“Senator Akpabio has continued to serve our nation diligently in the Senate. As the Senate President, he has displayed exemplary leadership, fostered unity and promoted the interest of many Nigerians, he is committed to principles of democracy, accountability and good governance,” she said.

In his remarks, the celebrant appreciated the people who thronged the stadium to celebrate with him.

Akpabio used the occasion to clear the misconception that he had created an office of the Senate President’s wife, saying that such never existed.

Also present at the occasion were Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, her husband Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno among others.
