We remember Goldie Harvey

GoldieSusan Oluwabimpe “Goldie” Filani Harvey, who died on February 14, 2013, would have been 31 today if she were alive.

The Nigerian professional singer and a Big Brother Africa star was born on October 31, 1983.

She graduated from the University of Sunderland in 2007 with a BA in Business Management and was married to Andrew Harvey.

Some of her popular songs are Jawo, Don’t Touch My Body, Skibo and You Know It.

Goldie won several African music awards including the Top Naija Award. She appeared on Big Brother Africa in 2012 which was her first TV appearance. Allegedly, she and rapper Prezzo another BBA housemate had a close relationship.

She was an ambassador of Project Alert, a world renowned non-profit organisation.

After returning home to Nigeria from the 2013 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California, she complained of a headache and was rushed to Reddington Hospital on Victoria Island, Lagos where she was later pronounced dead.

Her funeral at the Vaults and Gardens, located in Ikoyi, Lagos Island on Monday, February 25, 2013 was attended by family, friends, colleagues and fans.

She was 29 years old and signed to Kennis Music at the time of her death.

Then Governor of her home Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, described her passing as a “big blow to the global entertainment industry.”
