Rape scandal: We stand by Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo – CAN

The leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed support for Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) over rape scandal which has rocked the church.

Busola, wife of singer, Timi Dakolo, had accused Fatoyinbo of raping her as a teenager.

Fatoyinbo denied the allegation but was forced to step down from ministerial duties in his church.

Leader of CAN North central, Israel Akanji, and FCT Chapter, Jonah Samson on Sunday visited COZA, saying the church was with Fatoyinbo and praying for him.

“I thought I knew music until I came into COZA, I have been greatly impressed touched and blessed in this place,” Akanji said.

“We are with you, we will continue to be with you, we are in support of your pastor and stand by him as this church continue to march forward and gate of hell shall not prevail.

“My message for you is in Colossians 1:3, the church in Nigeria is praying for you, we pray this church rise from glory to glory.

“In the journey of life sometimes we find ourselves wounded and dying; the people we expect to come and help us are not there they are the ones that walk out. What the Samaritan did in time of need was to show love, today we have come.”

National leadership of CAN had earlier said Fatoyinbo and COZA were not a part of it and that it does not involve itself with daily running of churches in the country.

Akanji added that the church would not allow COZA walk through the difficult times alone.

“How can we hear that one church God has a plan for us going through this Jerusalem-Jericho road and walk away? We will not do such a thing,” he said.
