Rafael Nadal defeats Thiem to win 12th French Open

Spaniard, Rafael Nadal, defeated Austrian opponent, Dominic Thiem, 6-3 5-7 6-1 6-1, to win his 12th French Open title.

Nadal defeated Thiem in the Roland Garros final for a successive year to clinch his 18th grand slam crown.

The match took place for a little over three hours in fine conditions in the French capital.

The exertion of previous matches told on Thiem, 25, who has played for the past four days due to rain delays.

Nadal has now won more grand slam titles than every other man except for great rival, Roger Federer, who leads the way on 20.
