Presidential aides Bashir Ahmad and Laolu Akande received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday.

The duo took to social media to make the announcement, and encouraged the public to get vaccinated.

“Received the first dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine at the State House Clinic, Abuja. The COVID-19 Vaccine is safe and effective. We hope the vaccine will be the end of this deadly virus,” Mr Ahmad wrote.

Mr Akande, who is attached to the office of the vice president as media aide, tweeted: “Vaccination in progress and yours got the happy jab already. When it’s your turn, do it. We are hopeful humanity will beat Coronavirus through the herd immunity that should ensue as more and more of us are vaccinated. Ignore the conspiracy theories! Keep hope alive, stay safe.”

Their principals had on Saturday received the first dose of the vaccine at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
