Police summon orderly carrying ex-ambassador Nimota Akanbi’s food tray in Kwara

The police have summoned a policeman who appeared in a viral video carrying the food tray of a very important person (VIP) he is attached to at a social function in Kwara State.

The video has since sparked outrage among the general public who say it was degrading to see a policeman doing such duty.

Acting Force spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi told PUNCH on Wednesday that the policeman had been summoned to the Force headquarters in Abuja for questioning.

“He (the policeman) has been identified. He is coming to Abuja to meet us. We’ll ask question from him and take necessary action,” he said.

Adejobi added that the policeman’s action was “embarrassing” to the image of the Force.

Although he did not reveal the name of the policeman involved nor the VIP’s name, some online news platforms have identified the policeman as Yahaya Abubakar and the VIP as Nimota Akanbi.

Akanbi is the chairman of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC). She is also a former ambassador of Nigeria to the Netherlands.
