Police investigate as tourism minister Lola Ade-John hospitalised for alleged poisoning

Police have begun investigating the alleged poisoning of the minister of tourism Lola Ade-John who has been hospitalised at the Federal Medical Centre.

As of Saturday morning, Mrs Ade-John had spent five days at the centre.

FCT Police Command public relations officer Josephine Adeh told PUNCH that the commissioner of police, Haruna Garba, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to immediately take over investigation of the case from the Mabushi Police Division.

“The CP has ordered the Mabushi Police Division that was investigating the matter to immediately transfer it to the SCID,” Adeh said.

Ade-John, 60, is said to have suffered acute poisoning from an unknown origin.

She was inaugurated alongside other ministers in August.
