Police barricade INEC office in Rivers

A team of policemen has barricaded the entrance to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The police officers, on Thursday morning, placed a roadblock in the area after cordoning off the commission’s office.

Reports say that the blockade may have been prompted by the planned protest of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state over their candidates’ non-participation in the elections.

The APC in Rivers has been beset by court rulings barring it from fielding candidates in the general elections.
