One of the students, whose identity has not been confirmed, was injured in the eye.

Ondo police spokesman, Femi Joseph, said on Tuesday that the officer, whose name he declined revealing, had been arrested and would face trial.

Mr Joseph said the issue involved two drunk FUTA students who were on a motorcycle on Sunday night.

According to him, the students refused to be searched by the officers, causing one of them “to slightly push the lady. But because the lady was drunk, she fell down and got injured.”

He added: “In spite of that, as I am speaking with you now, the policeman in question has been arrested and will face trial today (Tuesday). He would definitely be punished.”
