Police arraign 2 sisters over alleged assault, mischief

The police on Friday arraigned two sisters, Ifeoma Amadu 27, and Ndidi Amadu, 32, in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court over assault and mischief.

The defendants of Opposite Deeper Life, Kubwa, Abuja, were docked on a two-count charge of intentional assault and mischief, to which they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Ikem Uchegbulam, told the court that the defendants jointly insulted and assaulted Godday Anyanwu of Gado Nasko, Kubwa, and Abuja on January 23.

He said the defendants committed the offences without any provocation and also caused damage to Anyanwu’s shop ‎which cost N400, 000 to repair.

He added that the offences contravened sections 265 and 327 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Mohammed Marafa, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N250, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.

Marafa said the sureties must show their means of identification and a copy of utility bill‎ and adjourned the case until March 26 for hearing.
