Notable personalities attended the Saturday funeral service for the founding pastor of the Fountain of Life Church Taiwo Odukoya in Lagos.
Odukoya died in the United States on August 7 at the age of 67.
Among those present were the presiding bishop of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Bishop Mike Okonkwo; senior pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo; first vice president of the Living Faith Church Worldwide and the senior pastor in-charge of the Abuja church, David Abioye.
Also present was musician-turned-politician Banky W, and Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church among others.
Abioye, while describing the deceased during his sermon at the church’s auditorium in Ilupeju, Lagos, said he was a man who would be remembered for his good name, character and works.
Quoting from Ecclesiastes, he said: “The name of a man represents his recognition and we all saw that in late Pastor Odukoya when he was alive.”
He said the late cleric’s church will not die because he was a vessel to bring forth the church of God and the church of God can’t die.
Abioye said: “The church will stand despite his demise. He was God’s vessel to build his Church and there is no fear. Death is an appointment everyone will keep. When our time comes, it doesn’t require your view. No matter who you are. But before then, it is important to prepare before embarking on that journey of no return.”
Over 16,000 participants joined the funeral service online.
