Peter Obi condemns attack on Maersk boss, wife’s murder

Vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, Peter Obi, has condemned the attack on Maersk boss, Gildas Tohouo, and the stabbing to death of his wife, Bernadett Kurucz.

Mr Obi spoke to journalists on Tuesday during the public presentation of The Big Interviews, a book written by the immediate managing director of Sun Newspapers, Eric Osagie, at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.

He said such an attack, “besides diminishing our common humanity, is retrogressive to the country because of negative signals to investors that they were not safe in the country.”

The former Anambra State governor encouraged security agencies to make sure that all those indicted in the attack are dealt with according to the law, even as he thanked the Lagos police commissioner for his assurances of the safety to residents of Lagos.

Two suspects, Ade Akanbi and Olamide Adegoke, have been arrested in connection with the attack

It was learnt that the suspects stabbed Mr Tohouo and his wife, and forced them to drink a substance suspected to be acid.

While the corpse of the wife had been evacuated and deposited in the mortuary, the man is battling for his life in hospital.

It was learnt that the deceased was a Hungarian, while her husband is a Cameroonian.
