Paul Adefarasin and siblings set to bury Hilda Adefarasin

Hilda Adefarasin, mother of the senior pastor of House on the Rock church Paul Adefarasin, has been buried after a funeral service at Guiding Light Assembly in Ikoyi, Lagos.

High-profile persons including clergymen gathered at the church on Friday to commiserate with the Adefarasin family and bid the deceased farewell.

Adefarasin shared a photo of himself and his siblings on Instagram standing near their mum’s coffin and looking set for the funeral.

“For mummy,” he wrote, adding the image of a dove for emphasis.

Adefarasin’s wife Ifeanyi posted on Instagram a picture of Hilda lying in state. “Adieu Mummy,” she wrote, and also added a dove.

The service of songs and night of tributes was held at the Rock Cathedral in Lekki, Lagos on Thursday.

A nurse and women’s rights activist, Mrs Adefarasin (nee Petgrave) died on Sunday, January 5.

The former president of the National Council of Women Societies was aged 98.

She is survived by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband Justice Joseph Adefarasin died on March 28, 1989.

He was the second chief judge of Lagos State (1974 to 1985) and president of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies from 1977 to 1981.

Pastor Adefarasin recently lost his church’s drummer Chris Okafor. Mr Okafor slumped in church and was declared dead later.
