Pastor Chris Oyakhilome named chancellor of Weldios University in Benin Republic

Televangelist and president of Loveworld Incorporated Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has been named chancellor – head of government and chairman plenipotentiary of a private bilingual university in the Republic of Benin, Weldios University.

Oyakhilome, a philanthropist and lover of education, was decorated as chancellor on Monday, December 4.

Announcing the appointment, the varsity said via social media, “Weldios University is thrilled to announce that Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is now the Chancellor of our esteemed Institution! His unwavering commitment to education and inspiring leadership make him a beacon for our academic community. Join us in congratulating Pastor Chris on this well-deserved role. Together, we look forward to reaching new heights of excellence!”

LoveworldSat, an arm of Oyakhilome’s ministry, congratulated him in an Instagram post.

“We are thrilled to share the wonderful news of the conferment of the prestigious titles of University Chancellor and Head of Government/Chairman of Institution upon our beloved father, His Excellency Rev (Dr) Chris Oyakhilome, DSc DSc DD, at WELDIOS UNIVERSITY, Republic of Benin, on Monday, 04 December 2023.

“Congratulations to our Pastor on this well-deserved honor! We joyfully join the Loveworld Nation in celebrating his immeasurable service to the body of Christ and humanity,” the post read.

The university’s registrar Ugo Kel said he was honoured that Oyakhilome accepted the appointment, adding that he knows that the clergyman would not only aid in increasing the international standard of the university but also debunking the negative stereotypes surrounding universities in Benin Republic.

Weldios University held its eighth convocation and matriculation ceremony on November 11.

Meanwhile, Oyakhilome, the founding pastor of Christ Embassy, clocked 60 on Thursday.
