Pandora Papers: EFCC invitation hasn’t reached me – Peter Obi

Peter Obi

Former vice-presidential candidate Peter Obi says he has not received any official invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), neither has he reacted to it.

The EFCC is reported to have invited Mr Obi for questioning after he was listed in a report by Premium Times as one of several politicians named in Pandora Papers who set up secret businesses in tax havens. But the former Anambra governor insists he broke no law.

Some news outlets quoted Obi as requesting the EFCC to make their investigations public.

However, a press release by his media aide Valentine Obienyem on Monday said Obi was yet to receive the letter from the EFCC, which he read on social media like others.

“From what is circulating, the letter appears to have been sent to an office he is no longer part of and is yet to reach him,” the release stated.

It added that “Obi being a law-abiding Nigerian will honour all legitimate invitations from government agencies at all times.”
