Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan, was on Sunday denied access to the eighth day fidau prayers for the late former governor Abiola Ajimobi holding in the Ajimobi’s Oluyole, Ibadan residence.

The family had announced the fidau prayer as a private programme, urging the public to watch through virtual channels including Zoom, YouTube and Facebook.

But Mr Olaniyan arrived the area at about 11:20 am in a convoy of five vehicles.

Policemen insisted that only the deputy governor’s vehicle could be allowed into the street following intervention by a senior police officer.

On arriving at Ajimobi’s house, Olaniyan was told the gate had been locked and that Ajimobi’s widow, Florence, was with the key.

Olaniyan was forced to leave the residence after waiting for about 15 minutes.

Mrs Ajimobi had attacked the Oyo State Government led by Seyi Makinde for allegedly treating her husband unfairly in his last days.
