How Oliseh transformed Fortuna Sittard from strugglers to heavyweights

When Sunday Oliseh was appointed coach of Dutch side, Fortuna Sittard, in December, many doubted the ability of the Nigerian especially his countrymen.

Oliseh faced a tremendous task of keeping the modest side in the Eerste Divisie which is the second tier of club football in the Netherlands.

The 42-year-old had inherited a team who were 19th on the log after winning just twice in 19 games.

However, the ex-Super Eagles skipper has since transformed the club into one of the most feared teams in the league.

In seven games in charge, the Nigerian has won four times, drawn two and lost just once.

In fact, Fortuna is on a five-game unbeaten streak following another victorious outing away from home against Emmen on Friday.

The club is well on track to remain in the league after surging to 16th on the standings with 30 points.
