Olaiya Igwe, Adekola Tijani remember Murphy Afolabi six months after death

Actors Olaiya Igwe and Adekola Tijani have remembered their colleague Murphy Afolabi six months after the latter’s death.

Adekola and another film practitioner named Sunday Dada shared a video of the trio via Instagram on Tuesday, paying tributes to the deceased.

Olaiya Igwe prayed for everyone who supported and came through for the actor before and after his death.

“It’s been six months since Murphy Afolabi died. Using this opportunity to thank those who mourned with the family. May we not see untimely death,” he said in parts.

In a post via Instagram on October 24, actress Kemi Afolabi paid an emotional tribute to Murphy, detailing the number of times Murphy supported her during the health challenges and the fun moments they shared together.

“Murphy I graced many of your productions as you did mine. we became friends because time proved to me that you have been a staunch admirer of my craft since I joined the industry. Always on time to support me, post my works, and birthdays, celebrate with me and every positive news there is about me.

“Your words during my health challenge keeps echoing in my ears when you passed that I couldn’t stop crying, you would call and tell me “Omo baba mi, ko si iku loju e” that you got some people on board praying specially for me, I could feel the fear in your voice then while you tried to encourage me,” she wrote.

A teary Kemi described the deceased as “handsome, fashionista, self-confident, intentional, storyteller, Actor, producer & director of all times”, adding that she is certain that he never wanted to die an untimely death.

The actress who shared a throwback photo of herself and Murphy also recounted how the latter was the first to inform her about an award nomination in Canada and made sure she attended the ceremony.

Murphy Afolabi died on May 14, 2023, after a fall in the bathroom at his Ikorodu home. He was buried the next day.

Born in Osun State, Murphy graduated from Ire Polytechnic in the same state. He got into the movie industry in 2001.
