Ex-governor of Imo State Ikedi Ohakim has filed a N5 billion libel suit against his former mistress Chinyere Amuchienwa for publishing what he described as defamatory and falsehood.

In the suit marked HOW/888/2020 filed before the Imo State High Court by his counsel Aloy Ejimakor, Mr Ohakim also pressed for an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further and forever uttering the said slanderous and libelous words about or concerning the plaintiff.

Aside the N5 billion being general and exemplary damages, he has also secured an order of court issued by Justice I. M. Njaka of the State High Court for a substituted service to be effected on the defendant.

Ohakim is further seeking an order of court directing the defendant to retract the allegations through another interview to same medium; and retract the audio she circulated through social media, particularly WhatsApp.

The ex-governor also sought an order of court directing the defendant to write and deliver to the plaintiff, an unreserved letter of apology which should be prominently and boldly published full-page in two Nigerian newspapers of national circulation and two newspapers of local circulation in Imo State.

The court has issued a summon demanding Amuchienwa’s appearance before it on February 18, 2021.
