Obiano hails students for winning bronze at Tunisia engineering festival

Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has commended students of St. John’s Secondary School, Alor for a brilliant performance at the International Festival of Engineering, Science and Technology (I-FEST) competition in Tunisia.

The boys, Meshach Ugwuishi, Anthony Chuka-Umeora, Daniel Nwachukwu and Dominic Machi, took third position out of 32 countries that partook in the competition.

The students presented two innovations titled – an inverter which traps energy from the sun and a single fully backed solar technology panel.

Obiano, represented by his deputy, Nkem Okeke, received the students at the Government House and promised to continue investing in education sector.

Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha, said the students were victorious because of their doggedness and proactiveness.

Manager of the school, Rev. Fr. Francis Unegbu, also said the students’ devotion to the project was instrumental to the success story.

One of the students, Master Ugwuishi, said they were committed to making the nation proud through their innovations despite financial challenges.
