Obi Cubana silent as associate Cubana Prime Minister faces fraud charges

Businessman Obi Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana has maintained silence amid the arraignment of his associate Lucky Ndukwe aka Cubana Prime Minister.

The Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday arraigned Cubana Prime Minister, who is a manager with Cubana Group, before Justice Justice O.A. Fadipe of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State. Also arraigned was Precious Ofure.

They were accused of conspiring and laundering “an aggregate sum of $164,000 which form part of $256,314 fraudulently obtained by false pretence from one Elena Bogomaz, a Canadian Citizen, and converted the fraudulent money into the United States Dollars with the help of a Bureau De Change Operator, which was then credited into the bank account of Casa Cubana Estate Limited and Lucky Uchechukwu Ndukwe respectively for the purchase of two and landed properties and committed an offence contrary to Section 330 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”

Ofure pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years imprisonment on two counts of conspiracy and money laundering, with an option of fine in the sum of N2 million and 100 hours of community service.

Cubana Prime Minister, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty.

Hours after Cubana Prime Minister’s arraignment, Obi Cubana is yet to speak on the incident.

As of press time, he has instead continued to promote his product, Odogwu Bitters, on social media.
