Solomon Okoduwa, Senior Special Assistant to Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Anti-Human Trafficking, escaped gunmen attack Tuesday night at his residence in Benin.

Mr Okoduwa told journalists on Wednesday that the gunmen trailed him to his residence and began shooting in his direction.

He added that he received a phone call afterwards from an unidentified caller, warning him to stop the clampdown on traffickers in Edo.

“After I managed to escape on Tuesday night, I got a call from an unknown number telling me I should not talk about human trafficking. The guy, who did not tell me his name, further threatened me that if I don’t stop, they will stop me. The call has come now three times and it is strange,” he said.

Okoduwa appealed to the Edo police commissioner and other security agencies to assist him, adding that the incident had been reported to a police station in Benin.

The aide insisted he would not stop his fight against human trafficking in the state.
