Oba Akiolu distances self from Kirikiri, Ojo crown controversies

The Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu

Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu has distanced himself from disputes in Kirikiri town, Apapa, and in Ojo town, Ojo, Lagos State over the traditional seat of power in the areas.

The monarch was rumoured to have fuelled the disputes following alleged imposition of candidates for baale of Kirikiri and balogun of Ojo.

However, Oba Akiolu in a letter to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs titled “Re: Matters of Imposition of Baale of Kirikiri Town, Apapa and Balogun of Ojo Town, Ojo, Lagos State” said he knew nothing about the allegation.

“I believe that the local chieftaincy committees in Apapa and Ojo local governments will be in a better position to treat the matters based on honesty, fairness and good conscience,” he said.
