NYSC DG reunites with former landlord in Osun where he served as corps member

Director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed on Tuesday paid a visit to his former landlord in Iree, Osun State years after his national service.

The service corps shared a video of the visit on Facebook.

Ahmed and his former landlord exchanged pleasantries in the video and recounted memories of others who lived in the compound.

The NYSC boss also visited his place of primary assignment (PPA) KIDVAC School, Iree, when he was a corps member in Osun State.

In his address, he advised the staff, students and corps members to be diligent, loyal to constituted authorities, faithful and be patient as they aspire towards greater heights in life.

Ahmed was also at the swearing-in ceremony at the Osun State Orientation Camp in Ede to welcome the first set of corps members in 2024.

He advised the corps members to be security conscious throughout their service year.

“Security is very important. We are in strong collaboration with the security agencies and whatever you are told to do regarding security, abide by it.

“Read through the security booklets given to you and abide by it. We will continue to ensure your safety at all times,” the DG said.

While declaring the orientation course open, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke said the importance of NYSC programme cannot be overstated. He added that it is a scheme for personal growth, self-discovery and the development of skills.

The governor’s address was read at the ceremony by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye.
