No ethnic group has monopoly over political offices – Bakare

Tunde Bakare

Founder of Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare, has said that no ethnic group has monopoly over political offices in the country.

Bakare, while giving his sermon at his church in Lagos on Sunday, also called for the adoption of a zonal security system to replace the Nigeria Police Force with the Zonal Police Force.

The cleric engaged his congregation in his annual state of the nation address to commemorate Nigeria’s 59th independence anniversary.

“No ethnic nationality has monopoly on any of the offices. This is no time for mutual suspicion, there should be collaboration. The infighting must stop. Nigeria is going through a resetting on the path of predictable progress,” he said.

Bakare said Nigeria was clearly underperforming and lacking in national cohesion.

He added that it was time to return to the foundation of the country, saying, “It is time to rebuild and reset and rebuilding has to be done zone by zone.”
