Nigerians mock DStv after TStv launch

Indigenous PayTV company, TStv was launched on Sunday to coincide with the celebration of 57 years of Nigeria’s independent.

The launch, attended by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, was broadcast live on AIT.

With the promise of cheap subscription, data allocation as value-added service and pay as you watch pause service, many see the launch as liberation from South Africa’s DStv which has enjoyed near monopoly in the country for two decades.

The government has also thrown in a three-year tax holiday to the delight of Nigerians who could not wait to stick the knife at DStv and its sister GOtv both owned by MultiChoice.
