Nigerians hail purported recall of high commissioner to South Africa over xenophobia

Muhammadu Buhari

Nigerians have hailed President Muhammadu Buhari on the purported recall of the High Commissioner in South Africa, Kabir Bala, over renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

The Federal Government on Wednesday pulled out of the World Economic Forum (WEF) holding in Cape Town, South Africa in a sign of worsening diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The move is seen by critics of the government as the strongest since news of the attacks broke.

Although there is no official confirmation of Bala’s recall, Nigerians on Twitter are hailing President Buhari and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, calling for more action.
