Nigerian footballer, Daniel Bidemi arrested in India

A Nigerian footballer, Daniel Bidemi, was on Tuesday arrested in Anandapur, India, for allegedly using fake visa to stay in India, local media report.

Bidemi, 31, used to play for several clubs in Kolkata.

Anandapur police said Bidemi was staying with his wife who hails from the state, at a rented flat in Madurdah, Anandapur.

The Security Control Office (SCO) found Bidemi in Kolkata and informed the police who raided his apartment and arrested him.

Bidemi had been deported through Indira Gandhi International Airport in 2015.

The versatile footballer plays in different positions. In 2016, he played for Mohun Bagan.

He had also represented numerous Calcutta Football League clubs such as Chirag United SC, Mohammedan Sporting, Calcutta Port Trust, Bhowanipore FC, Tollygunge Agragami and Police AC since his arrival in India in 2008.
