Nigerian arrested in India over possession of hard drugs

Police in Bengaluru, Southern India have arrested a Nigerian with cocaine worth Rs 5 lakh ($7,200) weighing around 50g.

According to Asian News International (ANI), police authorities discovered that Jekwu Michael was in the country on expired visa.

Bengaluru police have registered the case under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Foreigners Act.

The police said they are still carrying out investigation on the case.

Another Nigerian, Samson Maxwell, was recently arrested after he was found with over 35.20g of high-quality cocaine worth ₹2,81,000 (N1.5million) in Pune, a city in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.
