Nigeria needs industries, not fighter jets, Mbaka tells Buhari

Father Ejike Mbaka

Enugu-based Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka on Sunday warned that the fighter jets being purchased by the Buhari administration would be used to destroy the country.

Speaking during his homily, Mbaka said Buhari should rather focus on industrialisation.

“The jets you are buying are going to be used to collapse Nigeria. Please, the first person to meet President Buhari after this message, should tell him that all these jets he is buying will be used to destroy Nigeria.

“God told me to tell him that. Let him stop buying more jets and begin to build more industries,” Mbaka said.

On Sunday, minister of information and culture Lai Mohammed said the Federal Government has taken delivery of 10 of the 12 A-29 Super Tucano fighter jets expected from the US and their deployment has changed the tide in the fight against terror in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Air Force had on July 22, 2021 taken delivery of the first batch of six of the A-29 Super Tucano airplanes from the US.
