Executive director of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Shaibu Husseini, held his first meeting with film stakeholders in Kaduna State, alongside the director-general of the Kaduna International Film Festival (KADIFF), Audu Kashim.
The meeting brought together film guilds and associations based in the state.
The development was disclosed in an Instagram post on Sunday by the official page of the Kaduna Film Festival.
According to the post, the meeting marked Husseini’s first official engagement with Kaduna-based film stakeholders since assuming office. It was described as a familiarisation session aimed at fostering dialogue, understanding challenges facing the film community and exploring pathways for development within the industry.
In his remarks, Husseini said the engagement would not be a one off event but the start of continuous consultation and collaboration with stakeholders in the creative sector.
Speaking at the meeting, Israel commended Husseini for his leadership and contributions to the growth of the Nigerian film industry since taking office. He also expressed appreciation for the NFVCB’s support for KADIFF.
According to him, “We deeply appreciate NFVCB’s support since the maiden edition of KADIFF in 2018. The NFVCB has been part of the Kaduna International Film Festival’s history. We sincerely value your continuous and unwavering support.”
The NFVCB is the federal agency responsible for regulating and censoring films and video content in Nigeria, as well as promoting standards within the industry. In recent years, the board has increased engagement with stakeholders across different regions as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and address industry concerns.
KADIFF, launched in 2018, has grown into one of the film festivals in northern Nigeria, providing a platform for filmmakers to showcase their work and connect with industry players.
