Nebo wants more federal appointment for Igbo

By Gbenga Sodeinde, Ado Ekiti

Chinedu NeboA former Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, has expressed hope that Igbo would get more federal appointment from President Muhammadu Buhari.

He made the declaration in a chat with our correspondent after his conferment as Atayese of Ikoleland in Ekiti State by Elekole, Oba Ajibade Fasiku, over the weekend.

Nebo, who argued that Igbo are being marginalised by the present administration, urged Buhari not to deny them appointment on the premises that they did not support him during the last presidential election

According to him, “I believe that Buhari would eventually open the door for the Ndigbo.

“Of course you know that the Igbo did not vote for him during the elections, so slowing down in appointing them would be humanly understandable, but because he is the father of the whole nation now, we expect that he would open the doors for all.

“We are all Nigerians, whether you voted for me or not. Come let us work together. That is the way to build a formidable country.”

He however expressed confidence that Buhari would still consider more Igbo for appointment at the federal level, saying “ there is no doubt about it that President Buhari hasn’t finished his appointments, and I believe that by and large, he is going to accommodate more Igbo in his appointment. So, I don’t think there is any reason for anybody to worry over it.”
